Overcast

The weather forecast headlines rain

Though it’s only rain at nine

The rest of the day is fine

But the forecast depicts a downfall

All doom and gloomy

Like the news

Where all we get is overcast

Shading over our sunny lives

Rustling up storms in our teacups

With debatable.

HEADLINES

Become blurbs

Like movies are reality

Sold on vanity

With no time to forage for thoughts

Preferring them ready made

Heated up by the media

Served as tv dinners

Filling a whole for instant gratification

Parasites bloating on schadenfreude

Through not face to face bookishness

Absorbing the life of others

Bed bugs biting through a good nights sleep

Until we left wondering

Whether to wrap ourselves up

Or let it all hang out

Admiration

They say you should never meet your idols

I look closely at the Turner in the gallery

A painting I’ve adored from afar

Admiring the masterstrokes

The depictions of man embroiled in nature

Saturated in a plethora of colour

Through impassioned intensity

Now I’m before it in the flesh

Scrutinising it in juxtaposition

Noticing all the minor strokes

The blotches and blemishes

All rising to the surface

Like starch in cold broth.

Prognostication
