Zara Lenon is an artist, poet and writer who is based in London. Currently, she is a recurring writer for The Scary Shorties Podcast on Spotify, whilst other pieces have been published in Anima Loci, Impspired Magazine, and The Anansi Archive’s sixth anthology, The Nine Lives of Billy Nightjar (2023). She has a razor-sharp eyed for detail and a weird way with words; the aim being to create vivid worlds for the reader to lose themselves in, and craft colorful, memorable characters to populate them. The macabre has both fascinated and terrified her in equal measure, ever since childhood-particularly cosmic horror and grisly riffs on classic monsters, fairytales and folklore.
Beware The Siren, My Son!
She lures poor souls
into the sea,
from the shore
with her beautiful voice
that leaves men
lusting for more.
She knowingly drives
them into the gloom,
below the murky waters
and to their doom!
Devouring their souls
and reducing them to
their bony, skeletal core.
