As a senior barrister then as a judge Paul Girvan wrote extensively on legal matters during a long career and he now enjoys the freedom of creative writing particularly poetry which is often inspired by his travels, by nature, by his sense of place, history and time and by his career in law. A keen amateur artist his work is influenced by an artist's eye for colour, form and atmosphere. He contributed a prose piece Affairs of the Heart to The Heart of the Matter Imspired Press 2022 and poems to Issue 21 of the online magazine and its printed version published by Imspired Press 2023. He was a contributor to the North Coast Writers’ Anthologies Woven Words and Spun Tales and Woodland Glades and Sea Sprays Impspired Press 2022 and 2023 and an Anthology by Irish Writers Caught Alight Impspired Press 2025. He also contributed to Writing from the Heart collected by Jay Jenkins Scott and Robbie Taylor Impspired Press 2025. He has published a collection of his poetry In a Sense Impspired Press 2024.
